Thierry Mugler Designer History:
Thierry Mugler is a multi-skilled style designer and photographer, born in 1948 in Strasbourg, France. At first he educated in classical dance, but also learnt design and created fashion outfits for close friends. He relocated to Paris in 1970 and during his laboring in Parisian store "Gudule” as artistic designer, he created his own fashion apparel privately.

Thierry Mugler has become known as "The prophet of Futurism" ,he is an innate designer who doesn’t search for creative ideas but instead based on his personal view as "intellect is the servant of the spirit."

He travelled to London and Amsterdam and In 1970 Mugler functioned as a free-lance designer. In 1971 he went back to Paris and revealed his first selection for women named "Cafe de Paris". The design firm "Moonlighting" decided to appoint him as a designer for their Italian ready-to-wear in 1972 and a year later in 1973 Mugler began designing with his personal label in collaboration with Alain Cardeuc.

He started his women's brand in 1974, and three years later he succeeded with a men’s fashion collection. In 1976 Mugler demonstrated his range of Atric gold gathered boots. The "Punk" appearance was the trend, so Mugler implemented this street look to his series for 1977. A year later he revealed broad-shouldered suits identical to the Military French jackets, manufactured in gabardine and leather in 1978.

His first fashion store started out in Paris in 1978 while Thierry's collections were recognized mainly for their distinctively overstated and powerful, angular forms, with broad shoulders and pegged waistlines. Movie noir had an effective impact in his artistic and beauty designs, so did insect types, space and advanced futuristic styles. His first haute couture collection was showed in 1992 and the 90's saw a stir of boutique starting’s around the globe. His collections comprise of women’s luxury ready-to-wear, sportswear and leisure, leather accessories, jewelry, footwear, along with men’s and women’s fragrance in perfumes and body care collections.

Although the brand had achieved a reputation of innovative styles and unique designs, Mugler's fashion house lost its shine and faded away in the 90's and since 1997 was bought and managed by Clairns, the French cosmetics and skincare enterprise, following its seven years of successful collaboration with the designer. The brand is mainly recognized these days for its wide variety of fragrances. From the 90's, Mugler the man has focused his energy in movies, involving other creative passions, and worked together with Cirque du Soleil on its "Zumanity" show. His design impact can even now be noticed in contemporary Balenciaga, D&G and McQueen collections. His classic collections are still desired throughout the globe even today.

Thierry Mugler Fragrance History:
Mugler presented his first revolutionary perfume for women, Angel in 1992, a worldwide success, and succeeded in 1997 with his first men's fragrance, A*Men. Then a flood of famous and widely trendy new fragrances were to come along such as Mugler Cologne, B*Men, the amazing Alien, Innocent and ICE*Men just to name a few. While a few of his most notable fragrance collections with additional seasonal releases include the wonderful Mirror Mirror Collection for ladies and the his Womanity series of fragrances.
