Hanae Mori Designer History:
Famous Japanese style and fashion designer Hanae More was born in Yokoshima on 8th January 1926. After completing her studies at Tokyo’s Christian University she started he famed fashion style career as an outfit designer for movies. Her first New York collection presented in 1965 was an excellent success and at the time was referred to as the -East Meets West-. In 1977 she started out a luxury fashion showroom in Paris and as a result was assigned as a member of the elite La Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. Hanae Mori is the sole Asian designer to be approved as a participant of La Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne.
The butterfly design is Mori’s trademark style creative source. Aside from providing customers such as Princess Grace of Monaco and Crown Princess Masako of Japan for whom she created her bridal dress, She has additionally designed outfits for operas such as "Madame Butterfly" at La Scala in Milan in 1985, for "Elektra" at the 1996 Salzburg Festival, and ballets such as "Cinderella" and even musicals including the Japanese making of "Evita".
At present, besides the fact of being one of Japan’s most successful fashion and style designers, Mori is also one of the nation’s most distinguished female business figures and participates on several government panel’s as an expert advisor. In 1989, Hanae Mori was awarded with the French Legion of Honor by then President François Mitterrand of France and in1996, she was honored the Order of Culture by the Emperor of Japan.
