After sampling many, many fragrances like this (including many "women's"), I've come to find this one to be special. However, let me note that I hate the top notes. I blow on the area sprayed, trying not to breathe in too much of the top notes, to get to the drydown quickly. Doing this, the balance among the notes is great. I usually dislike florals, but the rose here has a role in keeping things lively. Without the teak, this could be a "woman's" fragrance. The neroli is strong, though, which some women might not like either. I don't get much of an ambery quality, or much musk. Blowing on the sprayed area seems to obliterate the apple, because I can't detect it. The other notes, though, are all there and none is too strong. For me, the balance is nearly perfect. I should warn, though, that sometimes this fragrance has smelled weird to me, like grape juice. I hope that my "mind's nose" is now mature, and that I can appreciate the notes as well as detect them clearly, so that it never smells odd again. In any case, when I enjoy this fragrance, as I did the last time I wore it, I can't say that any fragrance has topped it! It does seem to lose it's strength in the 4 to 5 hour range (one full spray to the chest), and becomes a very mild "skin scent," which is fine with me, because I like to wear two fragrances each day anyway. I may spray twice with this one at some point, to see if that lengthens what I find so good about it.

The word "sleazy" comes to mind upon taking a whiff of this. Dark, heavy, syrupy sweet; almost like a molasses tinged with raspberries, then backed up with vanilla and patchouli. I have a bottle of this and I love it. I've had it for 3 years (3.4 oz) and it's still about half full. Not good for many occasions, yet really good when the mood and occasion are present. It smells like a full-bodied/concentrated version of diesel plus-plus.

Very spicy and sweet. I like this. I used to own it and bought it again,why? I don't know,maybe the memories. I like it. It is not really masculine though. A girlfriend told me that she would wear something that smelled like that. I still however like it,and will wear it. A distinct smell,but not for everyone.

The fragrance with a dominance of floral: neroli and rose but surely a very masculine composition (not as one of Fleur d' male). Dunhill Desire-Red is a very balanced mix of floral with citruses, apple, woods and musk. It has a fair lasting and silage but for me it is none of such fragrances that can be used for daily wear. A romantic wear to stimulate the senses of the loved one!! Has its own class due to the distinction it carries.

This actually is my top favorite fragrance I believe. The Lime and Apple really set it off for me. Very classy, and defined. this is not a normal cologne. Very very distinct smell.its dark, but the apples kinda brighten it up. Not linear at all, but the longevity is not really there. That makes me upset.

When I wear this perfume I get completely contrasting reaction from both sexes. This is one perfume which the females detest. They go something like this "uggh you must be wearing dunhill desire". It takes a lot of courage to tell someone that they smell awful but also know the brand of the stench.that seals it.
Whereas, most of male friends have not only complimented me about the way I smell but also gone ahead and purchased a bottle for themselves. Wear this to a boys only party or a interview where you are sure that the interviewers are males.
The longetievity is great, almost 6 to 8 hours, and it is best suited in summers.
